About Delts Gym

We are not a chain, not a franchise, not a big-box gym full of machines nobody uses. Delts is a private training gym built for people who want real coaching, real accountability, and real results.

Innovating Fitness

A Coaching-Led
Movement In
Thames Ditton.

Based at Old Cranleighan Sports Club in Thames Ditton, we’ve been home to hundreds of members since 2016.

It’s not a big gym, but it’s not supposed to be. We keep sessions small — never more than six — because that’s how proper coaching works. You get seen. You get pushed. You get better.

No mirrors designed to intimidate you. No shouty trainers. No culture of comparison. Just a solid, fully-equipped space where people come to do the work — and actually enjoy it.

The Delts community

Delts. Live Longer. Stronger.

Strength With Warmth

A premium strength gym that still feels human, supportive and easy to step into — built for all ages, all levels and all starting points.

EGO-FREE COACHING

No intimidation, no gimmicks and no corporate gym noise — just honest coaching, clear guidance and a friendly space where people feel comfortable improving.

SMALL GROUP Focus

Train alongside others in focused small-group sessions of up to six people, with structure, accountability and the kind of support that keeps you coming back.

YOUR FRESH Push

Whether you’re rebuilding confidence, getting back into routine or chasing a new goal, Delts gives you the coaching, community and momentum to feel strong again.

Meet the Team

Meet the coaches behind Delts Gym — real people delivering supportive, no-pressure training that builds strength, confidence, and consistency for everyday life.

Trainer and Owner

Coach Rupert has a driven passion for making people fitter, happier and more confident in the gym. His own story has had ups and downs, and Rupert is never afraid of a challenge—so watch this space as he grows this gym into more than a space for fitness, but a place for people to live longer and stronger in all facets of health.

Assistant Manager

Fitness has always been a core part of who I am, shaping my mindset as much as my physical strength. As I swap the skies for an exciting new challenge, I’m embracing this next chapter with energy, purpose and an eagerness to keep growing.

As a proud single mum, I strive to lead by example, showing my son that it’s possible to chase your goals, look after your wellbeing, and be fully present for the people you love.

Head Coach

Chris Hodson is a Personal Trainer with a background in sports massage therapy and rehabilitation. He is passionate about helping people become stronger, move better and build confidence in the gym, whether they’re just starting their fitness journey, returning from injury or looking to improve performance. By combining strength training with an understanding of movement, injury prevention and recovery, Chris aims to help every member train safely, consistently and achieve long-term results.

Personal Trainer

Coach Mel is a qualified Personal Trainer, certified Yoga Instructor, and Ironman triathlete with a passion for helping people become stronger, fitter, and more confident in their everyday lives. My approach is centred on sustainable, evidence-informed training that supports both physical performance and long-term wellbeing.

Mel has completed additional training in pre- and postnatal exercise, stretching and mobility, movement repatterning and rehabilitation, and laryngeal massage therapy, which allows her to take a holistic approach to movement, recovery, and overall body function. She specialises in endurance training, working with runners, cyclists, triathletes, and anyone looking to build resilience, stamina, and strength.

Alongside her fitness qualifications, Mel holds postgraduate qualifications in psychology, which informs the way she works with clients. She understands that health is influenced not only by exercise, but also by stress, confidence, motivation, and lifestyle. Mel’s aim is to create a supportive environment where people feel empowered to make meaningful, lasting changes. Whether your goal is to improve fitness, return to exercise after pregnancy, complete your first endurance event, or simply feel stronger and more energetic, she can help you develop your fitness so it supports your life, priorities, and overall wellbeing.

Personal Trainer

With a background as a sports coach and a degree from Bournemouth University in sports coaching, Jake brings years of experience coaching athletes across various disciplines, including cricket and football. Having spent time shadowing Coach Rupert, he has become a fundamental part of the Delts Gym team, supporting our transition into a small group personal training studio that prides itself on delivering high-quality, expert coaching.

Personal Trainer

Will is fueled by a lifelong enthusiasm for athletics, regularly competing in both rugby and cricket for the Old Cranleighans and the local Long Ditton Cricket Club. When he isn’t enjoying social time with his teammates, he is dedicated to his own training—a commitment that has seen him undergo a remarkable personal transformation, losing over 18kg of body fat. Will now spearheads our evening sessions, where he brings a vibrant atmosphere and curated playlists to ensure every small group personal training session is packed with high energy and expert guidance.

Personal Trainer

Olly is a dedicated Personal Trainer who draws on a diverse background in sports, particularly rugby, and is furthering his expertise through advanced studies in Physical Education. He is driven by a deep conviction that strength training is for everyone, fostering an environment where members can find joy in the process, regardless of whether they are beginners, recovering from injury, or elite performers. By integrating focused strength work with a meticulous approach to movement mechanics, injury prevention, and recovery, Olly is committed to guiding every individual toward training safely and consistently to secure sustainable, lifelong health outcomes.

Facilities and equipment

A Coaching Space, Not A Commercial Gym Floor.

Delts Gym is a fully equipped private training facility — cardio, free weights, machines, and space to move without queuing for equipment. It’s a proper gym. Just without the posturing.

Most gyms are built to sign you up and hope you don’t show. Delts was built the other way around. We cap group sessions at six people. Every member knows their coach’s name. Every session has a plan. And nobody — ever — gets lost in the crowd.

This isn’t a place to float around with headphones in. It’s a place to train.

Located at Old Cranleighan Sports Club in Thames Ditton, we’re easy to get to from Esher, Surbiton, Kingston, and beyond.
