Back to School, Back to You: The Delts Gym September Challenge

About Delts Gym Community in Surrey

Summer has been good to us.

We’ve used our bodies to the extreme—whether that meant hiking through the Dolomites, sunbathing beside the Mediterranean or simply attempting to keep up with the kids for six relentless weeks.
Life’s unexpected summer slowdown can be a welcome relief. A brief escape from commuter hell, frantic school runs and searching the house for a missing PE kit at 7:42am.

But life is seasonal. Like the changing tide, September eventually rolls back in.

For some, that means doom, gloom and darker mornings. But September also brings something many of us secretly need: structure.

The children go back to school, routines return and the final quarter of 2026 appears on the horizon. We have one last opportunity to set a health target, change an eating habit and finish the year with an exercise bang, rather than sleepwalking towards Christmas underneath a blanket of mince pies wishing we got to the gym just a little more.

The summer sun deck isn’t closed yet!

Before we hibernate, pack away the garden pool and clean the barbecue for one final time, there’s still time for another adventure.

We may have consumed enough rosé to supply a small French legion. Perhaps breakfast became less “porridge, chia seeds and raspberries” and more “whatever pastry is closest to the hotel reception.”
That’s fine. Summer is there to be enjoyed.

But six weeks is still enough time to change direction and get our health and fitness heading in the right direction.

Not through punishment, starvation or promising yourself that next summer you’ll finally fit into a particular pair of shorts. This is about finding a path you can actually follow—dropping a few overindulgences and replacing them with habits that make you feel stronger, clearer and more capable.

Yes, that may occasionally include the dreaded 6am personal-training session. Character building, apparently. But at Delts Gym it is also a place to join a community of like minded people, pushing towards the ultimate goal, health, fitness and wellbeing.

Train for more than a number on the scales

Before Halloween arrives and the clocks jump backwards, we need camaraderie: a joint venture that pulls us into a proper fitness and mindset push.

I felt the difference myself while training for my Murph Marathon. Having other people beside me gave the work a purpose. It stopped being another workout and became something we were facing together.

That is what the Delts Gym Six-Week September Challenge is about.

It isn’t punishment. It isn’t only about losing 5kg or chasing a “beach body.” It’s about building a body that is as prepared for the future as your pension is supposed to be.

We want fewer niggles in the knees, more energy for the kids and enough strength for the next hike, ski trip or unexpected challenge life throws our way.

We’re turning the spare tyre into a new pair of running shoes. The rubber remains—but its purpose improves.

Could September be your reset?

Maybe you need something to train for. Something beyond office journeys, school runs and planning the next holiday.

Perhaps you want bulletproof knees, better sleep, more energy or the confidence to run your first 5K. Maybe you’ve fallen off the wagon and simply need some accountability to climb back aboard.

The Delts Gym Six-Week Challenge includes small-group personal training, coached fitness classes, nutrition guidance, weekly check-ins and a supportive local community.

It’s designed for beginners, returners and anyone who knows they are capable of more—but could use a push, a plan and a few good people around them.

If that sounds like you, come and join us at Delts Gym, serving Thames Ditton, Esher and Hinchley Wood.

Let’s finish 2026 stronger than we started it—before Santa’s sack lands firmly on both our waistlines and our wallets.

Delts. Live Longer. Stronger.
